If you're a small independent business owner it could serve you well to take a birds eye view of your entire money making process for your business. 1. Looking at this year's activity and make sure you've identified your most profitable customer - profile the characteristics that help you identify similar customers in the marketplace so that you develop your message specifically to target the customers with the characteristics you've identified as those of your most profitable customer. In my promotional products business I want relational customers vs. transactional customers. All of my marketing and sales efforts are designed to attract the client that is looking for a trustworthy, reliable promotional products distributor with great ideas. The customer that wants a cheap transaction with no loyalty on either side of the table is probably not my customer and I'm not offended w

Many years ago, my wife ran book parties through a multi-level-marketing scheme. She was successful, met her goals and then pulled out. She made a bit of money, enjoyed herself and gathered a wonderful library for our growing family. She was, and there is no insult in this, an amateur. Her parties were, like almost all MLM schemes, selling one company's product range. In her case, it was books published by that company, but I have various friends who have sold plastic-ware, telephone services, gas and electricity, clothing and goodness knows what else. One friend did especially well for a while, until the company found itself no longer able to compete with high-street competitors and closed down. Its problem was that it did not develop its product range and manufacturing base fast enough and was overtaken by rivals. This flaw is inherent in almost all MLM schemes, with represent

For many years I new that today's technology was able to fully automate our marketing systems, but it seemed that nobody was using it to its full extent. Recently I came across a system that was so beautifully automated, I just knew immediately that this was going to work, and it did. Why is it then that so many people miss it, I asked myself. It is right here under our noses. But hey wait, "What is Full Automation" Full Automation to me is when your marketing system is so fully automated that it will sell, advertise, promote, appoint downlines, train them, and motivate them all at once. Does your site do that? If not then you do not use technology to the full extent. Here are the 10 factors you need to fully automate your system: 1. You need to collect you opt-in lists

When you work at home, one of the biggest challenges can be keeping the kids busy. There will be the days when the usual tactics won't distract them, but you just have to get some work done. It might just be time to do something the kids won't expect. Some work at home jobs and businesses may not require you to actually be at home. Can you bring a laptop or briefcase and work at the playground, library or fast food restaurant? You'll still have to keep a sharp eye on the kids, but they'll have a chance to release that pent-up energy. What about things you can do with your kids at home while working? Older children may be able to help you with parts of your work, knowing that this will free you up to play with them sooner. Other times you may have to take advantage of any flexibility in office hours your work at home job or business will allow

Business cards are a great way for your business to get it's name out into the world. Small, and convenient, these little cards provide your customers with your name and all your contact information, and because they're portable, your customers will be able to take your name with them wherever they go (an advantage over online advertising). Many companies provide fully customizable cards, allowing you to choose from font size and color to a unique logo. A good business card company will even let you choose the paper thickness and finish For those of you who do not wish to customize, many providers come with pre-designed templates where you only have to insert your information for a quick and easy card ready to be shipped. For those of you who wish to exercise your creative muscle, here are a few tips to follow:

Mastercard International is targeting a 40 per cent growth for the financial year 2004-05. At present, it has 7 million debit cards and 5 million credit cards. People will always need credit cards; it seems the average person has about 4 cards in his pocket, a card for gas, a card for a major department store, a card for groceries, a card for jewelry, and a couple of cards as spares just in case cash is needed and in short supply. Now if you have a website, ANY type of website, you can become an affiliate for one credit card company, or up to 100 credit card companies, for absolutely free! To give you an example as to what is available: You can feature more than 100 credit cards with several companies by just placing a simple link on your web page for free. These compan

We all make mistakes in business. The important issue is that we learn from them and apply the lessons in both our online and off-line business activities. One of my most costly mistakes happened about twelve years ago in the off-line business world. However, the lessons I learnt are just as applicable online as they are off-line. Having established a small mail order business part-time, I decided to expand the business using direct mail techniques. I had read all the books and attended a course and it seemed like the best approach to achieve my goals. After approaching various mailing list providers, I decided I had found the perfect list to reach my target market. Pricing was obtained from the list owner and he was happy to provide me with small quantities of names initially so that I could test his list. These tests were successful enough for me to decide to undertake two lar

You cannot fail when you give more than 100 percent. In whatever endeavour you are doing, always give more than one hundred percent. You will find that whenever you do this, your rewards will always be far greater than the extra effort you expended. Some people refer to this success concept as going the extra mile. What it means is that you need to give people more than they expect. If you are working in your business and want to see it grow, the surest way to achieve it is by giving more. Customers are impressed when they discover a business that is innovative and gives them more than what they expected. Look for better and more efficient ways to do things. For example, make it easy to order from your site. Reduce the number of clicks to get to relevant information about your product or the order form. Don't be afraid of giving information for free. This is a crucial step in th
